Description:
Introductory Physics is a junior, non-calculus course that provides a general overview of physics as a description and explanation of the physical world.

The course is divided into 13 units and covers kinematics of linear motion, motion in two dimensions, Newton's Laws of Motion, rotational motion, gravitation, work-energy theorem and law of conservation of energy, conservation of linear and angular momenta, study of equilibrium, simple harmonic motion, heat and temperature, kinetic theory of heat, thermodynamics, electrostatics and circuit theory.


Assessment may include: Assignments, examinations.
Assessment is by written assignments and a final examination. A minimum grade of 50% is required on the final exam to pass the course.

Media and methods employed: Printed text, tutorial support.
The course has a compulsory lab component that requires students to attend an intensive two-week, full-time lab session at the University of Alberta, Edmonton.
